Resolving grievances
If you have an issue or grievance related to your volunteer position (e.g. conflict with another volunteer or staff member, issue with your role and it’s tasks, or issue with the organisation’s operations) the first step is to speak with your Volunteer Manager, or another member of senior management within the organisation.
Most grievances or issues can be resolved within organisations utilising their grievance procedure and disputes resolution policy. This may be in the form of:
- intervention by senior management
- mediation by an independent person where both parties have the opportunity to discuss the problem
- a more formal review that will include an investigation of the claims of both parties
